AMS has recently joined forces with EMHallowell, LCC, to offer high-quality professional development about ADHD to teachers—and at a special, AMS-member rate.

Created by psychiatrist, educator, and author Edward (Ned) Hallowell, MD, the program is called “Mining Magnificent Minds: ADHD for Teachers” (MMM).

MMM is intended to deepen educators’ understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder; sharpen their skills for working with students with ADHD; and provide them with the tools to “unwrap the gifts” that lie inherent of every child. It consists of 10 videos, which can be accessed live online, at one’s own pace, plus 9 bonus Webinars.

Participants who successfully complete the program will be awarded an MMM Certificate of Completion by EMHallowell, LCC, and continuing professional development hours by the American Montessori Society.

Dr. Hallowell is the author of 18 books, including Shine: Using Brain Science to Get the Best from People and Delivered from Distraction: Getting the Most Out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorder. In 2011, he facilitated the AMS Heads of Schools Retreat.

Says Michael Thompson, PhD, co-author of the NY Times bestseller, Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys: “Ned Hallowell has done more than anyone in America to illuminate the challenges of ADD and ADHD. He has given parents hope. He has taught us all how to focus children's strengths. Most importantly, he has provided teachers with a variety of ways to help struggling children in their classrooms every day. Dr. Hallowell's guidance is based on up-to-date research; it is tested in the field and tempered with his great wisdom. You cannot find a better guide for ADD and ADHD than Ned Hallowell.”
